Manitoba Time Change and Your Copier
Manitoba's move to permanent daylight time means some copiers, printers, and multifunction devices may require configuration changes to maintain the correct date and time. Learn what is changing, which devices may be affected, and how to update your settings to prevent future time-related issues.

Beginning November 1, 2026, Manitoba will no longer observe seasonal time changes and will remain on daylight time year-round. This means clocks in the province will no longer "fall back" in the autumn or "spring forward" in the spring. The change was announced by the Manitoba government following public consultation on the future of seasonal time changes.

How does this affect copiers and printers?

Many modern multifunction printers (MFPs) and copiers are configured to automatically adjust for Daylight Saving Time (DST). Devices that continue to follow the old time change rules may display an incorrect time after November 1, 2026 if their settings are not updated.

An incorrect time can affect:

  • Scan and email timestamps
  • Job logs and audit records
  • Scheduled functions
  • Authentication systems rely on accurate time
  • General date and time display accuracy

What changes may be required?

Depending on the make, model, and current configuration of your device, one or more of the following changes may be necessary:

  • Disable automatic Daylight Saving Time (DST) adjustments
  • Verify or update the device's time zone settings
  • Correct the device date and time
  • Configure Network Time Protocol (NTP) synchronization, if desired

In many cases, disabling DST and verifying the current time is all that is required.
